Sally Dog Little

  • “Our Choice” List, Canadian Children’s Book Centre

Bill Richardson has created a hilarious cast of characters and a fanciful story that will appeal to a child’s sense that the unlikely really can happen.

The Little family is very formal. When they decide to get a dog, everyone has a purpose in mind for her. Sally Dog Little begins her working life and does what is expected. But things go awry when a ghost pirate and his dog appear. Sally Dog acts like a proper dog and begins to bark at the intruders, but this displeases the Littles, who are unable to see the ghostly duo. Sally’s future seems uncertain until she finds a way to meet the demands of the pirate and his companion and thereby preserve order in the household.
